Sarah Willingham is a serial entrepreneur, business investor and leading consumer expert. She has received a number of accolades for her contribution to business including The Sunday Times 500 Most Influential People in Britain 2016, The Times 35 Most Successful Women Under 35, Business Weekly’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Courvoisier Top 500 and an entry into the Who’s Who of British Business Leaders. She holds three business degrees including an MBA from Cranfield School of Management, where she is also an advisory board member.
Sarah is best known for her role as an investor on the BBC TV series Dragons’ Den and also appeared as a judge on the popular BBC2 show The Restaurant alongside Raymond Blanc where she invested in the London Cocktail Club and Craft Cocktail Company, growing them into award-winning businesses.
Fascinated by business from an early age, Sarah started working in the restaurant industry at the age of 13. After studying International Business at Oxford Brookes, Sarah helped launch the Pizza Express restaurant chain in Asia and oversaw the opening of Planet Hollywood in Paris. In 2003 Sarah spotted an opportunity to buy the Bombay Bicycle Club and turned it into the largest and most successful Indian restaurant chain in the UK.
Today, Sarah runs her business portfolio from home alongside her entrepreneur husband Michael Toxvaerd. They jointly invest in and support more than ten business ventures from start ups to established and growing brands. She is also a popular speaker in the UK and internationally on topics including leadership, work/life balance, running a home, food/retail/leisure and entrepreneurism.
Sarah is as passionate about being a smart consumer and getting the best customer service as she is about her businesses. She applies her innate business savvy at home and is regularly asked to share her consumer expertise on national TV and in the press. As well as writing weekly consumer columns in national newspapers and magazines, Sarah is a regular guest on ITV’s This Morning, Steve Wright (Radio 2) and Sky News Money Matters where she shares her advice to help tens of thousands of people manage their home finances more effectively.
